[IranAlert] Iranians Wrap Up Norooz Holidays by Defying the Regime

Iranians across the country wrapped up the Norooz holidays with acts of solidarity and collective defiance against the Islamic Republic on April 2.

Iranians traditionally celebrate the 13th day after Norooz, called Sizdah Be-dar in Persian (“Thirteen outdoor”), gathering outdoors and enjoying communal festivities.

This year, heeding a (https://x.com/PahlaviReza/status/1907115749245620453) from Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, Iranians across the nation sang the pre-revolutionary “Ey Iran” anthem while celebrating the occasion.

Families of protesters killed by the regime during the 2022 uprising played a prominent role in today’s campaign, playing or singing the anthem as they commemorated their loved ones by visiting their graves. 

The mother of Erfan Rezaei, a protester killed by the regime, (https://x.com/ManotoNews/status/1907418007938199565) her son by singing the anthem while tying grass, an Iranian tradition believed to bring good fortune on the day.

The wife of slain protester (https://x.com/ManotoNews/status/1907404834212372494) visited his grave and played the “Ey Iran” anthem.
