Maryam Ovissi

Maryam’s dedication to service and public well-being guides her path. Raised in the creative world shaped by her father, the internationally acclaimed Iranian modern artist Nasser Ovissi, she developed a deep appreciation for art and its cultural significance. Together, Maryam and her father are founding trustees of the Ovissi Foundation, which provides annual awards to Iranian heritage artists and supports museums that promote contemporary modern Iranian art and modern craft by Iranian heritage artists in the United States.

She serves on the board of the Reston Museum and is a member of the Advisory Council of NUFDI. Professionally, Maryam is a trauma-informed yoga therapist and the founder of Beloved Yoga & Wellness in Northern Virginia. Her clinical work includes supporting oncology patients through programs at Inova/Life with Cancer and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

As a mother, artist, poet, and published author, Maryam is devoted to using her gifts to uplift and support the well-being of others.
